ABOUT AMH

ABOUT ARLINGTON MONTESSORI HOUSE

  • Every lead teacher has received extensive training and is certified by Association Montessori International (AMI). Teachers learn a broad curriculum as part of their training; they also learn to keenly observe children and to evaluate individual levels of readiness for lessons. Each teacher supplements this training yearly through workshops and seminars. We invite and encourage parents of currently enrolled students to learn about the curriculum by attending Montessori Parent Education Nights held throughout the year. Detailed literature is also available in the School Parent Resource Library.

  • Each family is assigned one week during the school year to bring healthy snack groceries for the classroom. These items are used to prepare and serve the children’s morning and afternoon snacks.

Lunch is catered daily by Good Food Company for children who remain at school after 12:00 p.m.

    AMH is a nut-free facility.

  • Outdoor play is a priority at AMH.

AMH has a private, fenced, and gated playground on the property. Children enjoy outdoor play each day during two 30-minute time periods, including time outdoors during rain and after snowfall whenever possible.

Children enrolled in the Aftercare program typically spend an additional hour or more outside each day, weather permitting.

  • Yes, naptime is 12:30-2:30 p.m. for toddlers and 1:00-2:30 p.m. for 3-year-olds. The designated rest time is 1:30-2:00 p.m. for 4-year-old students. AMH will provide a mat, a sheet, and a blanket for naptime and rest time for each student. All nap/ rest materials are laundered weekly by AMH staff.

  • Children are asked to wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for the weather each day. Childrens clothing should allow them to use the bathroom successfully and independently. Children do change from outdoor to indoor shoes upon arrival to school.
